So… this is basically a blog. A little bit different format than a typical youth ministry site. But it’s super easy, both in terms of me maintaining it and you navigating your way around it.
Topics covered on this page (in order covered):
- Getting Around
- Giving Feedback
- Enjoying the Music
- Visiting Outside Links
Getting Around
An important tool is the “Post Categories” dropdown menu, over on the left hand column. It’s a great way to filter the site to show only the posts that are of real importance to you.
For example, there’s a post on Rob Bell’s speaking tour in Denver. It will be for high school students only. So it’s an important post for high schoolers to read, and middle schoolers don’t need to worry about it. You should go over to the “Post Categories” dropdown menu, and select your age group. That way, if you’re not in high school and don’t need to know about Rob Bell, those high school posts will be hidden. And if you are in high school, you do need to know about the Rob Bell thing in Denver, and any posts that are just for middle schoolers will be hidden.
Another thing to remember: The newest posts are at the top, but that doesn’t mean that what’s about to happen in a couple days is near the top. So just make sure you check more than the first post when you visit, until you’re familiar with what’s coming up soon, what’s far away, and what has already occurred in the list of posts.
Giving Feedback
A great way to interact with this blog is the “Leave a Comment” feature. I don’t even need to explain it, but I just want to emphasize that I will check up on any comments you leave, and will respond as immediately as any other way you contact me.
Most of you probably have all my contact info anyway, and you know that you can use whichever way is most convenient for you if you want to get in touch with me:

Enjoying the Music
You’ll notice a little box that’s playing music over in the left-hand column. It’s a great little “widget” called a SongSpot, supported by sonific.com. Right now it has a playlist of about 10 tracks. Sonific’s website has about a billion songs I can add to the SongSpot’s playlist, which is pretty cool.
You’ll hear lots of good music if you let the player go through the playlist. What you won’t hear is a ton of music that you heard on the VMA’s. It’s a lot of indie artists and stuff. I did get the Plain White Tees, though. And there’s a girl on the playlist right now, her name’s Leigh Nash. She used to front this great band called Sixpence None the Richer; but now she’s doing solo work and it’s still pretty awesome.
If you want to go over to sonific’s website, and browse around, I’d love it if you suggested some tracks you want to add to the playlist. I already checked the “Religious” category of songs; it’s all pretty cheesy “Jesus-is-my-pal” stuff, so don’t bother looking there lol… But as long as something’s clean and thoughtful, I’ll add it to the playlist.
Read the blog.
Listen to the music.
Enjoy the music.
Go to sonific.com.
Suggest new music.
Repeat.
Visiting Outside Links
There’s a list on the left-hand sidebar of just a few websites you might want to check out. Feel free to make suggestions for links to add, too!
